Xavier and Maurice  Passport Men of the Year

Congratulations to Xavier and Maurice on being recognized as The Passport Man of the Year! Xavier was recognized as Passport Man of the Year for the 12 and up age group and Maurice was recognized as Passport Man of the Year for the 9-11 age group. At the graduation ceremony on January 30, 2025, Xavier and Maurice shared some wise words on their experience with the Passport to Manhood program and lessons they’re taking away from their time in the program.

Both Maurice and Xavier cited great experiences with their mentors Chris and Isaiah. When asked what piece of advice they’ll take away from their mentor, Xavier shared “No matter how hard the challenge is, you should have the courage to face it.” Maurice said, “Always be a leader and never be scared to do something.” The two also shared some wisdom with future mentors. “Be yourself and don’t be afraid to ask questions,” said Xavier. Maurice chimed in, “Don’t be afraid to express yourself.”

When asked about their favorite part of the Passport to Manhood program, Maurice said “Being a leader to the other kids by showing them what to do and being a helper.” Xavier added, “The talks and the topics. Going over them and understanding them will impact us when we get to adulthood.”

Their advice for someone interested in participating in the Passport to Manhood program? “Always be a leader. Follow the directions. Listen to all of the staff,” said Maurice. Xavier added, “Don’t think it’s just a serious activity that you have to do. It’s fun and it’s a safe space.”

These young men have big goals for the future. Xavier shared he’d like to be a fashion designer and play basketball. Maurice wants to play basketball and football. Aside from sports, Maurice would like to create a shoe business. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see these two team up again one day and combine their fashion designer and shoe business ideas into a whole empire.

Congratulations on this amazing achievement, Xavier and Maurice!
